The South Bay Aeronautics Design Center of Excellence (SBAD CoE), System Survivability and Systems Engineering (SE) center is seeking one Department Manager to join its growing team to lead either lead the System Survivability Department or the Systems Engineering Department!
We are a growing organization within NGAS, responsible for delivering innovative and effective engineering from technology development and early stage concept vehicle designs to programs of record by utilizing industry leading processes and tools.

Responsibilities also include the day-to-day operation of the functional organization including Driving the Engineering strategic development and vision at the Center/Sector level. You will set a vision and goals for the organization consistent with higher level guidance and achieve measurable progress toward those goals. You develop and implement departmental vision and strategies to drive program performance, employee development and engagement; improve hiring and attraction (Staffing) and retention of top talent; lead products and associated product champions; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy. The scope of hiring includes both industry as well as university recruiting and relationships. You'll work with the CoE & center to build/maintain technical breadth and depth of the department and participate in Center, Sector and CoE improvement initiatives.
You coordinate with program IPT counterparts to meet program and organization objectives. You'll ensure the organization provides appropriate development opportunities, is familiar with and uses required engineering processes and tools, personnel development and planning, and continuous improvement. You'll help to meet budget targets, staffing to meet program requirements, and providing functional leadership and direction to employees. This person will need to have strong team-building/collaboration skills and have previously demonstrated the ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members.
Engineers are located in El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach (referred to as the South Bay). Location of position is Redondo Beach. Position requires up to 10% travel. You will be responsible for an organization of 100+ individuals.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
Minimum 7 years of combined experience in areas of Systems Engineering or System Survivability or a related field
Experience in technical, program or functional management
Must have a current DoD Secret clearance and a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years
Previous experience working in a SAP/SAR environment.
Ability to obtain SAP access
Special program access
Master's or PhD Degrees
Knowledge of SE processes, procedures and work instructions or Survivability processes, procedures, work instructions and technology required to support both management and engineering tasks
Previous experience in program or functional management
5+ years' experience in Defense & Aerospace industry
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Must have a current DoD Top Secret clearance and a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years
