Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Manager Structural Engineering 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA with regular travel to Palmdale, CA.

Chief Structural Analysis Engineering Manager for the F-35 program.Structural Analysis focal point for the program with responsibility for people, processes, and tools to efficiently execute all structural analysis and materials and processes statement of work on the F-35 Program.Will be responsible for leading F-35 Section Managers and Structural Analysis Team Members.

Technical responsibilities include:Leadership in the development repair methods for both composite and metallic aircraft structures and providing oversight and direction in enforcing and defining MRB Tag priorities, meeting BTP schedules, enforcing peer review requirements, responsiveness to Change Requests (CR's), supporting program Blueprint for Affordability (BFA) projects, maintaining customer coordination with both our Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LMA) and US Government JSF Program Office (JPO) representatives, support of Structures Development Technical Coordination Meetings (SD-TCM), Engineering Review Board (ERB), and other LMA and JPO meetings, Fleet Support activities with quick turnaround and high quality inputs for Action Requests (AR’s), Aerospace Equipment Instructions (AEI’s), Supplier Quality Assurance Requirements (SQAR’s), and JSF Structural Repair Development (JSRD) and Joint Tech Data (JTD) activities, and major customer reviews with LMA and the JPO.

Functional Management responsibilities include:professional development of department personnel, administer the performance review process and ensure proper staffing for all tasks in work by the IPT.Support engagement activities to ensure a high performing, collaborative, and inclusive work environment and world class teamwork and execution.

Candidate must be able to drive technical issues to closure in a timely manner with innovative and cost-efficient solutions.Successful candidate will champion process improvements within manufacturing, engineering and suppliers to support program initiatives to shorten production intervals.Primary work location will be Space Park/Redondo Beach with regular travel required to support F-35 production in Palmdale.

Basic Qualifications:

·Bachelor’s Degree OR higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural engineering, structural mechanics, structural aircraft analysis, and or mechanics of solids.

·Minimum 7 years of aircraft primary structural airframe analysis experience on both composite and metallic structures.

·Experience in composite structural analysis methods and documentation, load path development, layout and detail sizing, failure theories, stacking sequence/laminate analysis, environmental effects, bolted and bonded composite joints, and finite element modeling of composite structure.

·Experience with metallic structural analysis methods including detailed analysis procedures, acoustics/vibration familiarity, structural integrity planning, durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) analysis and finite element modeling of metallic structure.

·Minimum of 5 years of leadership/management experience within a structural analysis organizational role.

·Must have ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

·Master’s Degree or PhD in ME, AE or Civil Eng (Structures) with emphasis on structural mechanics

·Current DoD Secret Clearance

·Prior engineering support of aircraft production line activities

·Prior engineering support of aircraft fleet activities

·Understanding of NGC Airworthiness role related to military, and if applicable FAA DER, and guide integration of that role to maintain structural engineering quality.

·Team player and demonstrated exceptional collaboration.
