SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.

The ideal candidate will have experience performing a variety of machinist responsibilities which may include but are not limited to the following:

Must be capable of manufacturing close tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Inconel, Macor, Fiberglass Epoxy, Aluminum, etc. Have experience working both horizontal and vertical milling machines from a 3 and 4 axis machine. Have a knowledge of a high-speed machining and able to edit and perform setup on the machines.

The applicant should also be well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI 14.5M 1982/1994 specifications to interpret actual position and tolerance requirements. Capable of operating FADAL, DMG, Mazak, and HAAS CNC 3, and 4 axis machines. Have knowledge of CNC lathe operations, and a strong background in conventional manual equipment. Able to perform inspection of manufactured hardware using precision measuring tools. Able to work with little direct supervision. Willingness to work overtime when needed to satisfy customer requirements. Experience with Mill -Turn machines is a plus.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • AA\AS Degree plus 3 years of experience as a Machinist or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.

  • Experience in the aerospace industry as a machinist

  • Experience editing, setup, and producing parts with minimum supervision.

  • Experience manufacturing close tolerance hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Stainless, Aluminum, etc.

  • Experience in multi-axis machining and turning.

  • Experience in high-speed machining.

  • Conventional machining background

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Horizontal and Vertical Haas, Mazak, DMG, and Fadal CNC Mills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Programming experience in Mastercam version 2020 or higher.

Salary Range: $61,700 - $102,800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
