SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.

Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Participates in the development of sub-system and system test methodology.

Individual must be able to demonstrate to Quality Assurance that work performed meets engineering drawing requirements. This position may require the use of chemicals and to perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work any shift and extended work weeks.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

• US Citizenship required

• Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI Access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

OR Department of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.

• Two years of experience performing technician competencies

• Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required

• Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand

tools and mechanical equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

o AA degree or other two-year technical degree

o Demonstrate technical knowledge in manufacturing operations and procedures as it pertains to mechanical assembly, harnessing with a high attention to detail

o Comprehension with reading drawings, process specification, and work order instructions

o Experience working in clean room environments

o Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments

o Minimum 3 years of experience building/assembling hardware commonly found in aerospace environments.

Salary Range: $61,700 - $102,800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
