Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer 4 †Antenna Products to work in Redondo Beach, California.

The Antenna Products Department is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer 4 to join the department. The selected candidate will have knowledge and experience with A&E hardware and design practices. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of RF components and assemblies, and spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structures made of metallic materials, advanced composites & Honeycomb constructions. This individual will be knowledgeable of material strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions and processes (e.g. non-destructive testing, composite assemblies, etc). Experience with environmental testing requirements and experience with mechanical testing such as: structural static test, thermal cycle test, random & vibration tests to demonstrate qualification / acceptance of spacecraft structures.

Essential Functions

  • Experience and proficiency with CREO/Pro Engineering, Catia5, NX or other 3-D cad system.

  • Experience and proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with discrepant hardware process

  • Proficiency with creating and releasing drawing

  • Experience with creating anddeveloping preliminary layouts

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in aSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and9 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment OR

  • Masters of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and7 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment

  • Knowledge of spacecraft structures includingprimary/secondary structure made of metallic, advance composites, and/orHoneycomb materials and construction

  • Experience and proficiency with CREO/ProEngineering, Catia 5, NX or other 3-D CAD system

  • Experiencewith discrepant hardware process

  • Proficiencywith creating and releasing drawing

  • Experience with creating and developingpreliminary layouts, A&E hardware and design practices

  • Ability to perform trade studies

  • Experience and proficiency with GeometricDimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T

  • Experience of environmental testingrequirements and with mechanical testing

  • Active In-Scope SSBI Security Clearance within5 year scope

PreferredQualifications:

  • Masters’ Degree in Mechanical orAerospace Engineering

  • Proficiencywith creating and releasing drawing

  • Experiencewith creating and developing preliminary layouts

  • Experienceand proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T

  • Knowledgeof Mathlab or Mathcad

  • Experienceof environmental testing requirements and experience with mechanical testing

  • Possesses strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbaland written communication skills
