SSSD is seeking a Manager Systems Engineering 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will lead a growing statement of work within the Space Mechanisms Engineering Team in Redondo Beach, CA.
The Space Mechanisms Engineering Team Deputy Sub-Project Manager (SPM) position shares responsibilities for engineering oversight and project management of a Mechanisms and Sensors (M&S) Integrated Product Team (IPT) which consists of approximately 45 engineering manager/contributor direct reports and dotted line manufacturing and technician support personnel. The Deputy SPM functionally reports to the Department Manager of Mechanisms and Deployable Products (MDP) within the Vehicle Engineering Directorate and programmatically reports to the Program Director for Control and Power Systems (CPS). Deputy SPM responsibilities include performing program leadership and Cost Account Management (CAM) activities associated with the execution of program objectives and management of related design, development, production, integration, test, delivery and certification of space vehicle actuator and mechanism products. The Deputy SPM additionally interfaces with other Program subsystems and supports technology and business development activities, proposals, and design reviews. This role will also require support to suppliers and external partners for technology and business development, proposals, design reviews, procurement activities, and cost/schedule account management, as required.

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 9 years of engineering professional experience; OR M.S degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 7 years of engineering professional experience; OR PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 4 years of engineering professional experience
Must have 7 or more years of technical experience related to space product development
Must have 1or more years of prior experience as a Control Account Manager leading design, integration and production efforts within schedule, labor, and material cost requirements
Must have experience leading and influencing a high performance team
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret clearance
M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university
An active U.S. Government SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years required
Experience with the application of AIAA S-114 Mechanical Moving Assemblies (MMA) for Space and Launch Vehicles
Prior experience as customer interfacing spokesperson
Prior experience preparing technical and cost volumes for proposals
Prior technical subcontracts management experience
Prior experience spearheading initiatives to increase operational efficiency
