Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for an Engineering Manager 2- Metrology Services to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

The selected candidate will manage the Northrop Grumman Redondo Beach Metrology Services Department . They will be responsible for manage a diverse organization of 20+ employees who test, calibrate, maintain and repair physical dimensional measuring and verification and certification test equipment (M&TE) to ensure contractual requirements are met. Tasks include staffing, employee development, establishing and implementing policy, program support, increasing organizational competitiveness and ensuring adequate laboratory technical capability. Required skills include exceptional communication with all levels of personnel from entry level to senior leadership as well as external and internal customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and direction to team, ensuring sufficient statement of work, manage workload effectively including; quality, cost, scheduling, subcontracting, cycle time, productivity and efficiency

  • Manage employee performance and engagement including engagement strategies for both high and low performers

  • Act as the first point of contact for program technical issues with regard to calibrated Physical Dimensional and Verification Certification Lab measurement & test equipment

  • Manage and support workload and employees for up to one or more small offsite satellite calibration laboratories

  • Support 2nd shift operations

  • Participate in recruiting and hiring activities supporting the Metrology Services department

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)

  • 5 years of previous experience in leading a lab

  • Minimum of 2 years of Metrology/calibration engineering experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree(Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)

  • Demonstrated 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Maintaining electronic measuring and budget management experience

  • Experience in Metrology Systems based on industry standards AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI Z540

  • The ability to interface with all level of employees and management

  • Active, DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance

Salary Range: $111,000 - $166,600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
