The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector seeks to fill a Systems Engineering Manager 3 position in the Engineering function for our Space Park location in Redondo Beach, CA. The role is expected to provide the technical and functional leadership needed to establish and maintain a world class Engineering Program Excellence organization, supporting multiple divisions and programs across a wide portfolio. The role is based out of Redondo Beach, CA and will have responsibility for the oversight of for projects engaged in research and product development over multiple engineering leadership disciplines for state-of-the-art solutions in support of PGS programs and campaigns, as well as research and technology development.
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to manage, recruit, and retain employees. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will facilitate best practices across multiple programs enabling operational efficiencies. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. This is a dual role encompassing both ~20% functional management and 80% technical performance on a specific program.
Responsibilities include:
The Section Manager will generally be responsible for 10 - 15 Sr. Leaders on Programs, IPT Leads and Deputy Program Managers
Functional oversight and provision of resources.
Support of functional activities such as staffing and workload forecast; employee engagement, mentoring and career development; identification and conduct of training for skills required to execute on programs.
Staff sourcing, recruiting, requisitions, interviewing, onboarding, and performance management.
Support of business strategy efforts including proposals, gate reviews, independent review team, NAR/ICE, as necessary
Development and maintenance of processes, and tools required to meet the current and future needs of programs and technologies within the PGS portfolio.
Basic Qualifications:
10 years of relevant experience with a STEM Bachelor's degree; 8 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 5 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
High proficiency in technical problem solving.
Active Secret clearance, and ability to get SCI clearance.
Ability to travel 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty.
Leadership role with 80% coverage on program associated with the section.
Experience with program reviews and business development activities.
Experience as a Program IPT Lead or Deputy Program Manager
Active TS/SCI
Current NG Space Systems Sector PGS employee working within the MCS, OES or GES OU at Space Park, Redondo Beach, CA.
Salary Range: $176,100 - $264,100
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
