Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Fire Protection Officer/ Chemical Handler 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform fire inspections related to fire prevention, fire protection planning, building and safety, code enforcement or closely related field.

  • Interact with local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) with Site/Building Inspections, Notice of Violations and present all required paperwork associated with these tasks.

  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance services on various suppression systems and devices.

  • Maintain expertise in current code and advancement in technology, materials and methods of fire and life safety protection.

  • Conduct hazardous materials inspections.

  • Available to work 1st or 2nd shift and on-call hours.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/ GED with4 years of experience performing inspections or fire plan review in the fire protection industry

  • Working knowledgeof NFPA 72 fire codes

  • Ability to performfire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems testing

  • Working knowledge of fire and panic safety codes, ordinances, standards and inspection practices pertaining to building use, design and construction.

  • Working knowledgeof Federal, State, and Municipal fire protection codes, ordinances and guidelines

  • Ability to walk, crawl, climb ladders and work in a confined space

  • Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.

  • Must have or be able to obtain clearances within 1-year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active CA Type I & Type II Extinguisher License (Must have had license for two years) and Fire Pump Testing Certification

    • California State Fire Marshal (CSFM), Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D Course Certificates
    • CSFM Fire Prevention 1A, 1B and 1C, CSFM Fire Prevention Officer, and Fire Inspector 1 from Pro Board, National Fire Protection Association
