Northrop Grumman Cyber Software Engineer 3/4 in Redondo Beach, California

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector has a need for a Software Engineer to join our diverse team in Redondo Beach, CA.

Consolidated Operations and Anomaly Support Team (COAST) has an immediate need for a Software Engineer in their SW IPT for the ground systems software area for a large restricted program. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining different SW product lines and underlying Operating Systems (including troubleshooting kernel-level issues), and executing Linux Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) management processes. This position requires continuous coordination and interfacing with the other SW Sub-Project teams, Systems Engineering, System Administration team, external customers, and site personnel. Candidate will work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes.

Other Software Engineer responsibilities include: providing recommendation on various operating systems and network infrastructure; managing and administering IT security processes; planning and developing processes to help maintain and increase system readiness to meet software objectives; managing and coordinating with Software staff and site personnel; investigating anomaly issues, and reporting status to project management and customer representatives.

The qualified candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years related experience; Masters in STEM discipline with 3 years related experience

  • A strong understanding of CVEs, vulnerability management, cyber security policies and practices

  • Strong understanding of system administration and IT engineering principals

  • Ability to obtain SCI clearance or at least a DoD Top Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9 years related experience; Masters in STEM discipline with 7 years related experience

  • A strong understanding of CVEs, vulnerability management, cyber security policies and practices

  • Strong understanding of system administration and IT engineering principals

  • Ability to obtain SCI clearance or at least a DoD Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous software experience in a C++/Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment, and MS SharePoint development

  • Security + or any other Cybersecurity related certification

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills

  • Experience in large software development team and processes

  • Experience working with internal and external customers

  • Active SCI clearance or at least a DoD Top Secret clearance with current SSBI date
