Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every Friday off.
**This position may be filled by either an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer or a Mechanical Design Engineer level based on the qualifications listed. **
In this role you will:
Execute engineering design projects on schedule (BTPs, Mod Drawings, Production, and Modernization)
Utilize 3D CAD using CATIA V5 to generate new conceptual layouts, detailed engineering designs of subsystem components, modifications, drawing generation and reviews.
Enter CATIA V5 models and supporting documentation into the program Product Data Management (PDM) database and verify 3D models are accurately converted and properly displayed in the Visualization Mockup environment.
Support the creation of reports to document findings of projects.
Provide support to the production floor as required to ensure the team has the latest engineering definition to support aircraft build.
Basic Qualifications - Associate Engineer Mechanical:
Completed Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline
Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including 3D solid modeling CAD software such as NX, CATIA V5, etc. (electrical routing for harnesses and coaxes, hard routing for tubes using CATIA V5)
Experience in a production environment supporting aircraft build and delivery.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Basic Qualifications - Engineer Mechanical:
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of directly related engineering experience; OR a completed Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of engineering experience.
Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including 3D solid modeling CAD software such as NX, CATIA V5, etc. (electrical routing for harnesses and coaxes, hard routing for tubes using CATIA V5)
Experience in a production environment supporting aircraft build and delivery.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts. (Electrical routing for harnesses and coaxes, hard routing for tubes using CATIA V5)
Experience with the design, development, and implementation of aerospace mechanical systems, actuators, and mechanisms as well as a working knowledge of complex mechanical subsystems and integration of subsystems hardware into Vehicle Systems is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Mechanism, Subsystems, Electrical installation, or Weapons Design experience on military aircraft
Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including NX CAD, CATIA V5, and GD&T
Experience with environmental testing requirements and experience with mechanical testing
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Salary Range: $63,800 - $95,800
Salary Range 2: $77,100 - $115,700
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
