The Advanced Mission Programs (AMP) Software IPT, a large restricted Development program, is seeking a highly motivated individual that will help lead and manage the Ground Element (GE) Software (SW) Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT).

The SW Deputy Assistant Program Manager (DAPM) is responsible for leading a team of approximately 130 SW developers, SW testers, and System Administrators in the design, prototyping, development, test, and delivery of SW and ADPE to support critical milestones to the AMP Program across 7 CLINs. The team will provide innovative and effective software engineering solutions to complex technical problems.

Tasks include: managing all aspects (technical, schedule, and cost) of the SW team; staffing; leading the team in organic growth proposals (including CROMs & ECPs), authoring TD/BOEs and proposal development (including submission, capture, and negotiations); interfacing frequently with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-program counterparts, Tech Support, and the customer.

The Deputy APM will be tasked with setting and operating to program objectives and providing guidance to employees. Additional responsibilities include planning, risk and opportunity management, and project performance including Control Account Manager. Candidate will work closely with the AMP Ground Element PM, Ground Element Deputy PM, SW APM, Integration Support Group, and GE System Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) team, and with subcontractors. SW Deputy APM will work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes and will be responsible for managing all software development and software integration & test (SIT) tasks from inception through completion. The candidate will backfill the SW APM as needed including briefing SW status at customer attended PMRs and TMRs.

Ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, presentation, organizational, professional development, and mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop efficiencies. Ideal candidates will have a proven technical background in ground systems software development, software integration & test, and Site Surveys at operational sites. Previous Mission 1 domain ground system experience highly desirable. Active SCI or TS clearance required.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience

  • Experience leading a team of software engineers in software development deliverables and processes

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Current SCI access or current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering

  • Mission 1 experience

  • AMP experience

  • Experience with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies

  • Experience working with internal and external customers

  • Previous software experience working in a C++/RHEL environment

  • 5+ years of previous management experience as a Deputy APM, SPM, or Technical Lead a plus

  • 5+ years of experience performing as a CAM managing cost, schedule, and technical teams

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a challenging work environment

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
