Northrop Grumman Tool Engineer 4 in Palmdale, California

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) is currently seeking a Tool Design Engineer 4 to work as part of the Aircraft Tool Design Team in support of current and future production efforts. Tool Design Engineer is primarily responsible for aircraft tool and fixture design with focus on developmental and prototype tooling ensuring quality measures are applied throughout

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and development of aircraft tool and fixtures, fabrication and assembly

  • Partners with Manufacturing Engineering and Tool shop to identify and develop solutions that satisfy business and design requirements

  • Defines and documents development processes, design requirements, plans and produces engineering drawings

  • Executes development efforts according to specifications and established production timelines and schedules

  • Participates in design reviews to identify production related issues and makes recommendations for process improvements for quality product output

Interacts with external suppliers and vendors and provides design and development related guidance and direction as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in a technical discipline and 9 years related tool design experience and must include5+ years of recent aircraft assembly tooling design

  • Solid understanding and proficiency with Modeling, Drafting and Design in NX8

  • Ability to understand and interpret business needs and develop design specifications, plans and processes that support those requirements

  • Ability to partner with Manufacturing Engineering and other Production Operation teams as well as external suppliers and vendors

  • Excellent time management skills for working within established production timelines and schedules

  • Must have currentDOD Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required Preferred Qualifications:

14+years directly related tool design experience with a focus on developmental or prototype andemphasis on aircraft assembly toolingExperience with NX 10 a plus
