Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer Manufacturing to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
The selected candidate will:
Be responsible for horizontal integration of assembly manufacturing processes, associated tooling and process controls. Provide hands on support of shop floor with ability to demonstrate/implement manufacturing techniques for processes including mechanically fastened and bonded composite structural assembly, subsystems installation, composites fabrication and non-destructive test.
Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan, with emphasis on non-destructive inspection (NDI) and special test equipment. Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree inScience, Technology, Engineering or Math(STEM) field with a minimum of14 years in manufacturing and/or air vehicle engineering including structures or subsystems engineering (12 years with Master's degree,9 years with PhD)
Must have experience leadingfocusedtigerteams comprised of subject matter experts and junior engineers
Must have experience with composites, assembly bonded structure and/or non-destructive evaluation techniques
Must have experience with airframe structural design, analysis and/or manufacturing processes
Must have experience with large scale, complex integration tasks utilizing modern design techniques
Must have experience with configuration management software, manufacturing planning, visual aide, MRP and shop floor control systems
Must have an Active DOD Secret Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 5-6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
Master's degree in engineering or other STEM related field
Experience with Siemens CAD software, including TeamCenter and NX10+, and SAP and MES shop floor business systems
Experience with out of autoclave (OoA) curing composite resin systems and heating systems for OoA cure cycles
Experience with Systems Engineering and understanding of the system lifecycle
Experience assessing manufacturing process effects/process controlon structural integrity including completing Process FMECA
Experience with supply chain management/logistics
Able to adapt communication techniques for enrollment ofsenior leadership and education of junior engineers
Able to collaborate in a team environment and both relay and receive information from teammates
Able to prioritize and adjust tasks while measuring risksin order to accomplish project result
Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours
