Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This is a 3/10 1st shift position, and will be located in Palmdale, CA.
This position is for the Section Manager (SM) for the Palmdale Special Programs Materials and Process (M&P) engineering organization. This position is responsible for providing functional management (people, processes, tools, and technology) for a team of M&P engineers supporting a special access program. Approximately 20% of the SM's time will be focused on recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, weekly team meetings, bi-weekly 1:1 meetings, and holding performance review discussions. Supporting the VE Design, Integration, and Structural Analysis Department Manager on the NGAS Community of Practice will be expected.
The selected candidate will spend approximately 80% of the time providing leadership and direction regarding analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will provide technical oversight for the integration of advanced materials such as metals, coatings and elastomers with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 9 years of relevant experience
Experience working with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures.
Current Active In-Scope DOD Secret clearance and the ability to receive program special access.
