Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Communication Systems Ops & Test Sub-IPT Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. The individual will lead a team of engineers performing sustainment of operational systems and developing/implementing future systems for enhanced LOS and BLOS communication capabilities.
Manage the execution of Communication Systems IPT statement of work assigned for the program, including cost, schedule, technical performance, and product quality.
Regularly brief senior leadership on the status and progress toward meeting program commitments, including issue recovery and risk mitigation plans, when applicable.
Lead responsible engineers (REs) and subject matter experts (SMEs) to perform troubleshooting and root cause corrective action (RCCA) efforts.
Develop/ maintain technical performance metrics and use them as a tool to manage communication system performance.
Develop/enhance technical documentation and issue engineering directives as needed to maintain high-quality technical manuals/procedures.
Establish/manage project plans and detailed schedules to support program master plans and schedules.
Manage the preparation of proposals, proposal work statements, product specifications, task assessments, operating budgets and support negotiations of executable contracts.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
Knowledge and experience with RF and terrestrial communication systems
Experienced leader with strong program management and/or staff development/mentoring skills
Active Top Secret Security Clearance with most recent investigation date no more than 5 years old; ability to obtain additional clearances (SCI) and program accesses.
Current program access is highly desired.
Master of Science in an engineering or science related field, with concentration in communication systems
Experience transitioning a communication system from development to operational
Candidate should have a demonstrated record of working successfully in flight test and evaluation stages of development including anomaly resolution and requirements verification.
The candidate should possess superb leadership skills and have the ability to work effectively in a large team-based environment to include the frequent interaction with Company Program management, other Integrated Product Team members and customer representatives.
A recent background in the design, development, integration, testing, and fielding of operational airborne and ground Line Of Sight (LOS) and Beyond LOS (BLOS) communication systems is highly desired.
Demonstrated experience with airborne communications and networking equipment.
Candidate should be well versed with the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) to work with Control Account Managers (CAM) within the Integrated Product Team in addition to working with the Schedulers for the IPT on a weekly basis to ensure tasks start and finish on time per the Integrated Master Schedule.
Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop effective processes
Program Management training and/or demonstrated expertise/experience
