Collaborates directly with engineering to construct complex models and test articles to exacting tolerances per the Requesting Engineers direction. Build full and sub-scale RCS models/test articles to support LO system development and design verification of stealth technologies. Provide specialized parts and hardware to facilitate test and evaluation of prototype articles. Application of coatings and general knowledge of composite fabrication including foam tooling required. Responsible for quality and integrity of fabricated components associated with technology development, test and verification. Supports test execution requirements associated with the models. Travel to various test site locations and support the Responsible Engineers testing efforts. Extensive knowledge in specialized functions related to the building and testing of models. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and blueprints. Communication with supporting organizations and individuals is routine.
Basic Qualifications :
•High school diploma or equivalent in addition 2 years of experience to include composite fabrication, paint spray application, and some wood/metal fabrication.
•Experience maintaining EH&S, FOE, timekeeping and calibration compliances.
•A current DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access is required.
•Demonstrated experience working with ovens, heat lamps and thermocouples, as well as hand and pneumatic tools in processes such as layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, sanding, trimming, drilling, countersinking, fastener installation, and wood shop equipment.
•Must be willing to work overtime and support travel up to 30%.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience applying paint coatings.
