Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for either a level 3 or level 4 Power Plant Operator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located on site in Palmdale, CA .
Essential Functions:
Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam generators and steam turbines, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, air compressors, turbo blowers, electric motors, diesel generators, pumps, heaters, and boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat, or power for buildings and industrial processes
Inspects equipment and performs preventive maintenance measures and routine operational adjustments such as lubricating and cleaning filters, motors, and other equipment
Records data such as temperatures, pressures, water levels, and voltage and makes any necessary adjustments
Coordinate and communicate with the Maintenance team
Other typical job titles include Stationary Engineer and Operating Engineer
This position can be for various shifts: 1st shift 4/10, 2nd shift 4/10, 3rd shift 4/10, 1st shift 3/10, 2nd shift 3/10 and 3rd shift 3/10.
1st shift 4/10 (4 days a week/10 hour shifts - 6:00-16:00)
2nd shift 4/10 (4 days a week/10 hour shifts - 16:00-24:00)
3rd shift 4/10 Graveyard (4 days a week/10 hour shifts - 24:00-8:00)
1st shift 3/10 (3 days a week/10 hour shifts - 6:00-16:00)
2nd shift 3/10 (3 days a week/10 hour shifts - 16:00-24:00)
3rd shift 3/10 Graveyard (3 days a week/10 hour shifts - 24:00-8:00)
This position may be filled as either a level 3 or level 4 Power Plant Operator.
Basic Qualifications for level 3:
High School Diploma or GED and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience in operating and maintaining stationary engines mechanical equipment
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
T1/D1 water license
The ability to work any shift and schedule, including Overtime and Holidays
Ability to stand for periods of time
Basic Qualifications for level 4:
High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of additional education and/or related experience in operating and maintaining stationary engines mechanical equipment
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
T1/D1 water license
The ability to work any shift and schedule, including Overtime and Holidays
Ability to stand for periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain an Unlimited Steam License

Salary Range: $67,100 - $111,900
Salary Range 2: $79,800 - $133,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
