Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in Palmdale, CA has an immediate opening for a Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer 3 (Flying Qualities) to work on an exciting program.
This Flight Qualities Engineer will support flight performance characteristics testing and analysis for Palmdale programs in a variety of flight test scenarios. Knowledge and application of advanced control theory of inner-loop and outer-loop control functions as applied to flight conditions & profiles. The candidate will support and conduct stability and control analysis, support flight test operations and conduct post flight test data analysis in support of the Combined Test Force (CTF). The position requires proven ability to lead and manage projects accomplished by small, highly skilled teams plus the ability to communicate clearly with customers, project management, and engineering personnel within the CTF.
BS degree inScience, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)required with a minimum of 5 yearsâ€™ experience.
Candidates must be able to work independently and be knowledgeable of system architectures, manned flight controls, simulation,and modeling techniques using FORTRAN, C/C++, and/or Matlab/Simulink.
Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance or higher
MS degree in Aerospace or MechanicalEngineering with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Experience with MIL-STD-1797, MIL-STD 8785C, Cooper-Harper ratings, and the assessment of piloted handling qualities of manned aircraft.
Experience with Maltab, Simulink, and FORTRAN is desirable.
Experience with military or commercial test of manned aircraft utilizing feedback from piloted simulations or flight tests is highly desirable.
Current Active DOD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Program Access.
