Northrop Grumman Engineer Systems 2 in Palmdale, California

Northrop Grumman is one of the industry leaders in Stealth Technology. As such, we are involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms. We are currently looking for experienced Low Observable / Survivability engineers to work on a variety of challenging projects. One area where we are in the need of talent is LO antenna integration.

As an LO Antenna Engineer you will conduct tasks that include:

  • Working with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to provide LO requirement, understand other disciplines requirements, and develop an optimized solution that meets all disciplines prioritized needs.

  • Performing RCS and RF analysis using analysis codes such as HFSS, RAM2D, SWITCH, GEMS and XPATCH

  • Providing engineering oversight to RCS model fabrication

  • Overseeing RCS testing and perform RCS data post processing and analyzing test results

  • Conducting subsystem and total vehicle RCS roll-up using both analysis and test data

  • Conducting trade studies for OML and Edge features, integrating the needs of all disciplines, collecting and analyzing the data from all options and presenting the results in a comprehensive but concise way to the other disciplines and management.

As an Engineer 2 in the area of LO integration the following skills are anticipated.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. You are expected to have general knowledge of other related disciplines.

  • Problem Solving: Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

  • Discretion/Latitude: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Impact: Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

  • Liaison: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Basic Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in one of the following: electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or physics, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Active DOD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years and with the ability to obtain program access.

Preferred Qualifications:

An MS degree in one of the following: electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or physics is preferred. An Active DOD Top Secret Clearance is also preferred.
