Northrop Grumman Engineer Mechanical 2 in Palmdale, California
The Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation Organization (SIT&E) is looking for an Instrumentation Engineer2 to join their growing and diverse team. SIT&E is responsible for the testing of spacecraft and manned / autonomous aircraft. This position requires experience with airborne instrumentation and data systems including measurement techniques with various sensor devices, data system programming and calibration, troubleshooting and data analysis/management. Testing includes: Ground and Flight Test, Thermal, Dynamics, Static and Structural testing.
Designing, developing and implementing testing methods and equipment in multiple tests
Gather test requirements and developing test plans.
Plans and arranges labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices
Compiles and analyzes data (temperature, pressures, speed, horsepower, fuel consumption, etc.)and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements
Responsible for development and execution of small-scale and specialty tests as required
Analyze hardware configuration and processing solutions
Test hardware conformance to specifications
Generate 2D/3D layouts of mechanical support equipment
The successful candidate may be required to travel to other Northrop or customer facilities as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in STEM with minimum of 2 years of experience in airborne instrumentation and data system applications OR Masters Degree in STEM in lieu of work experience.
Current Active (DoD) Secret security clearance
Experience with military aircraft hardware installation design standards.
