Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Structural Analysis Engineer (Weapon Systems) to support the development and implementation of Structural Engineering capabilities for the SiAW Program.
You will be a member of a high performing, structural engineering team interacting with customers, program management, cross-functional teams of engineers and senior technologists.
In this role, the selected candidate will provide analysis, guide design teams to execute program goals, and support proposal and business development activities. We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about advancing the aerospace industry, and have a strong interest in cutting edge Structural Engineering methods.
The selected candidate will be expected to perform:
Flutter, Dynamics, Static, Fatigue, and DaDT analysis.
Analyzing, researching, and developing structural engineering analysis packages involving metals, non-metals, and composite structural material.
Contribute to product design, operation of product, and R&D activities.
Communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels both within and outside the organization.
This position will be located onsite at our Northridge, CA facility and operates on a 4x10 work schedule with a 10-hour work day Monday - Thursday and every Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Structural Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) and 5 years of experience or MS and 3 years of experience in related field.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Sr. Principal Structural Engineer (Level 4)
Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) and 9 years of experience or MS and 7 years of experience in related field.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications both levels:
Active DoD Secret clearance preferred, not necessary on first day.
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, ABAQUS or FEMAP.
Experience in Metallic and/or composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft/ missile structures.
Experience with analysis of composite and/or metallic structure or repair methods.
Experience in structural testing (building block or full-scale test).
Experience as a Lead Engineer.
Experience working on military aircraft.

Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,000
Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
