Job Description

We are currently seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer for - AARGM Production to support the Production Team for the AARGM program to work with our talented Advanced Weapons team in Northridge, CA.

Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site in Northridge, CA. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within the production environment and supporting the production efforts as part of the Systems Engineering team for the AARGM program and will work closely with various engineering functions to for developing projects that attribute to yield improvement, such as failure investigation analysis, automation projects.

In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):

  • Understand requirements for system architecture development and systems integration

  • Lead systems engineering activities to support transition from development to production

  • Collaborate cross-functionally/IPTs and production team to document manufacturing/test requirements and constraints for missile production

  • Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customer to communicate technical briefing and project status.

  • Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met

  • Support the management of critical subcontractors for developing, testing and delivery of quality products that meet the requirements

  • Provide status and input on Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs) tasks to the respective Control Account Managers (CAM)

  • Perform system level analysis, development, integration, component testing, and system validation/verification qualifications

  • Support various technical meetings (e.g., MRB, CCB, ERB) to understand the latest configuration(s) of the system/subsystem integration and designs

  • Identify and track risks to technical execution

  • Provide data mining for both failure database (TipQA) and ATP data variability analysis.

  • Generate manufacturing documentation, e.g., Acceptance Test Plans, Acceptance Test Procedures, Assembly Instructions, based on system/subsystem designs

  • Generate and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Change Notices (ICNs), technical manuals, technical specifications, and system/subsystem documentation for the customer/end user

  • Perform electronic diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Generate Engineering Change Proposals

  • This position can be filled as a Principal Systems Engineer (T03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (T04) level.

Basic qualifications for each level are listed below.

Basic qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer level (T03) are:

  • Bachelor of Science in related engineering discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting any part of the product lifecycle from proposal through production

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • Experience in configuration management process using a product lifecycle management tool, e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, StarTeam

  • Experience leading projects from a technical role

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic diagrams and mechanical drawings

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across different technical disciplines

  • Experience in requirements elicitation, systems integration and test

  • Must have proven experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion

  • Must have demonstrated experience in solving technical problems independently with minimal supervision

  • Prior experience working in an AS9100 environment

Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T04) are:

  • Bachelor of Science in related engineering discipline and a minimum of five (9) years of experience supporting a product from development into production lifecycles

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • Experience performing electronic diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in configuration management process using a product lifecycle management tool, e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, StarTeam

  • Experience leading projects from a technical role

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic diagrams and mechanical drawings

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across different technical disciplines

  • Experience mentoring and supporting technical development of early career engineering team members

  • Experience in requirements elicitation, systems integration and test

  • Must have proven experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion

  • Must have demonstrated experience in solving technical problems independently with minimal supervision

  • Prior experience working in an AS9100 environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Systems Engineering

  • Experience working with RF or Electronics sensor systems

  • Experience in Matlab or Python experience

  • Experience in Production Environment

  • Experience in Missile/Weapon development/sustainment programs

  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as IBM Rationale DOORS, Cameo, Rhapsody

  • Knowledge in CMMI model

  • Experience in reviewing drawings and an understanding of with ANSI Y14.5 Drawing Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standards / Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with design for manufacturing and inspection

  • Experience with military in aircraft weapons release systems or weapon systems

  • Familiar with standards: UAI Platform-Store ICD, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-810, and environmental system screening testing.

Salary Range: $104,600 - $194,500
