Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to provide talent to our Defense Electronics Systems (DES) group in Northridge, CA. Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

Role Description & Responsibilities :

Senior Systems Engineer and technical contributor for CMBRE system development and production support

Key responsibilities include :

Generating system and subsystem requirements development, management, analysis, CONOPS, and traceability, preferably within the model-based systems engineering paradigm

Reviewing, understanding, and assisting with the generation of well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents as well as interface documents

Defining verification methods for the requirements

Developing and performing verification and validation tests of the requirements

Developing block diagrams and system architecture plans

Preparing and presenting system engineering materials during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review and other formal program reviews as needed

Design improvements to current munition test/reprogramming equipment product related to cost, function, and reliability

Troubleshoot and isolate failures of existing product. Identify and propose solutions to system level problems of existing product

Work with vendors to develop part specifications and resolve part failures

Communicate with customer to analyze product requirements, write system, part and test specifications. Create and present system designs for customers

Analyze complex problems across multiple functional engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, test, and recommend solutions

Can perform simple circuit analysis and synthesis of both analog and digital circuitry

Ability to present technical information in written and oral form with clarity

Performing lab and field testing as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Gov't issued Secret security clearance within a timeframe set forth by management (US Citizenship required)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems and hi-tech product development

  • Well-versed, skilled and disciplined in system engineering lifecycle and processes

  • High level understanding in aircraft weapons release systems or weapon systems

  • Experience in writing specifications and design documents for military customers

  • Experience in bringing a product to production using lean design and design for manufacturing techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working level DOORs experience
