Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Principal Systems Design Engineer - Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) ( Weapon Systems) to join the Advanced Programs team to develop complex, next generation, state of the art weapon systems. You will be a member of a high performing, systems engineering team interacting with customers, program management, cross-functional teams of engineers and senior technologists.
In this role the selected candidate will provide analysis, guide design teams to execute program goals, support proposal and business development activities. We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about advancing the aerospace industry and have a strong interest in multi-disciplined optimization methods.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree with 5 years of experience; Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience
Must have a U.S. Citizenship
Must have an active or current DOD Secret Clearance
Experience in Multi-Disciplined Optimization Methods
Experience with setup and execution of Multi-Disciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) models
Experience with aircraft or weapon design, layout, sizing and performance analysis tools
Experience in System Design and Optimization
Strong code development experience
Excellent organization and leadership skills
Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, ModelCenter, Linux and/or FORTRAN
Preferred Qualification:
Technical Lead experience
Familiar with military aircraft or weapon design principles and tools
Familiar with design of low observable aircraft or weapons, integration of survivability technologies, propulsion systems, subsystems, sensors, and payloads
Self-starter with ability to take a complex open-ended problem and derive/work towards a solution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ownership of problems and ability to offer and implement solutions.
Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence, or other Agile tool suites
Experience with Git and GitHub

Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
