Northrop Grumman’s Defense Sector is looking for a Principal Engineer Manufacturing to join our team and help us keep building on our wide portfolio of secure, affordable, integrated, and multi-domain systems and technologies that fuel those missions. This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, IPT Lead, Quality Engineer, Design Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility meets the program targets, including Yield, and continuous improvement opportunities. This individual will support the AARGM program . The AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile) is a supersonic, air- launched tactical missile system. AARGM is the most advanced system for pilots against today’s modern surface-to-air threats. It can rapidly engage land- and sea-based air-defense threats, as well as striking, time-sensitive targets. This position will be 100% full time on site at our Northridge, Ca location. Relocation may be available, but not guaranteed.

Responsibilities- Process Development:

  • Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and affordability

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigating and initiating corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Working with cross-functional teams to develop new methods, applications, and processes to support current and future manufacturing needs

  • Providing ROI justification for process improvements

  • Specifying, identifying, and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production with a focus on the machine integration and data collection

  • Developing and optimizing process parameters

  • Developing/revising process documentation and manufacturing work instructions

  • Work with vendors to support assembly transitions

Factory Support:

  • Assisting the floor in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability.

  • Working with the production floor personnel to resolve technical issues.

  • Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics and data on efficiency and affordability.

  • Creating, validating, and maintaining automatic equipment programs

  • Assisting with the training of new personnel, generate process specific training materials and process procedures.

  • Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment

  • Interfacing with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues

Design Support:

  • Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products

  • Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers

  • Participating in design producibility reviews for new products

  • Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree + 5 years of relevant experience. Or Master's and 3 years' experience

  • Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies

  • Must have experience with MS Office software applications

  • Knowledge of IPC standards

  • Experience using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) Software for routings of manufacturing orders

  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activity such as collaborating with cross functional team in order to process hardware.

  • Able to obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance

  • Proficient with electro-mechanical assemblies, at least 2 years

  • Experience in the Aerospace or Defense Industries

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
