Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Health & Safety Analyst 2/3 to join our dynamic and diversified employee workforce.

In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Identifying hazardous workplace conditions and taking preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removing hazards and/or protecting employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.

• Taking effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.

• Participating in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation.

• Investigating, preparing, and forwarding as required reports on injuries and fatalities.

• Conducting safe work procedures training courses.

• Reviewing and interpreting existing and proposed EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact on operations.

• Assisting with implementation of EHS programs to comply.

• Partnering with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of EHS programs.

• Assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention and risk mitigation.

• Completing audits, industrial hygiene (IH) sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assisting with pollution prevention activities.

• Assisting during accident/incident investigations to help determine root cause and corrective actions.

• Interfacing with internal and external customers including regulatory representatives, senior management, EHS Committee, and the Emergency Response and Crisis Management teams

• Implementing EHS management systems, sector-level programs and associated documentation to proactively eliminate or reduce workplace hazards.

Additional roles and responsibilities may include:

• Serving as liaison with regulatory agencies.

• Providing timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.

• Writing and update EHS plans and procedures.

• Applying for new permits and renewals.

• Preparing and coordinate EHS training and conduct instructor-led EHS training.

• Supporting the site's environmental sustainability program.

• Traveling and/or providing support to field sites and offices as needed.

Some relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

This requisition may be filled at a level 2 (Health & Safety Analyst) or level 3 (Principal Health & Safety Analyst). Qualifications for each level are listed below.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualification for a level are:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an EHS position.

• Experience with two of the four: 1) managing various EHS compliance programs (such as hazardous waste, storm water, wastewater, air, occupational safety, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations; 2) experience in completing industrial hygiene assessments and sampling; 3) oversight of third party consultants/contractors; and/or 4) implementation of EHS management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, OSHA VPP).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with all levels of an organization are a must.

• Ability to solve complex problems by: actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources; consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems; mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

• Experience with two of the four: 1) managing various EHS compliance programs (such as hazardous waste, storm water, wastewater, air, occupational safety, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations; 2) experience in completing industrial hygiene assessments and sampling; 3) oversight of third party consultants/contractors; and/or 4) implementation of EHS management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, OSHA VPP).
