Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a qualified Principal Network Engineer to become part of a diverse team of network engineering professionals supporting a fast-paced, growing, dynamic program for our Air Force customer. This position is located at Nellis AFB, Nevada.
The candidate will be responsible for performing network installations in accordance with established configuration management processes and independently performing troubleshooting and maintenance support activities. The preferred candidate will be a network engineer with hands-on experience and knowledge of network architecture design, development and testing methodologies. Specific technical skills desired include:
A solid understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, routing protocols BGP and OSPF
Experience in UDP multicast, CDS, BGP, IGMP, PIM, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs desired.
Industry vendor certifications from Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP) or Juniper (JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE) are a plus This requisition may be filled based on the qualifications listed below.
Principal Network Engineer: Bachelors of Science degree with 5 years of applicable experience; 3 years with MS; 0 years with PhD. 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Active Top Secret security clearance, eligible for SCI.
Experience with implementing layer 3/layer 2 security configurations on network devices to include port-security, routing protocol authentication, and access control lists.
Must possess a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, CCNA-Security) or able to obtain within 6 months.
Strong troubleshooting skills involving diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems while maximizing performance.
Experience developing and updating internal documentation for projects and network engineering functions.
Demonstrated knowledge of LAN/WAN configuration and security strategies.
Experience configuring, installing, and supporting network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls, maximizing network efficiency and security.
Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
Experience with protocol analyzers/sniffers such as Wireshark
Experience in authentication & encryption methods/capabilities (TACACS+, Active Directory, GEM-X)
Cisco Certification a plus (CCNA, CCNP)
Experience configuring Cisco firewalls to permit/deny network traffic by implementing access control lists.
Experience with configuring Cisco Call Manager
Experience with configuring Cisco Identity Services Manager (ISE)
Experience with configuring Cisco wireless access points
The ability to work individually or collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently at times, in a fast-paced environment.
