Northrop Grumman Staff MMIC/RFIC Design Engineer in Morrisville, North Carolina

We are seeking a Staff MMIC/RF Integrated Circuit Designer with expert level design skills who will be responsible for providing technical leadership to design teams in the development of state-of-the-art integrated circuits for use in Northrop Grumman systems. The role includes advising other engineers and managers on circuit design tradeoffs and risks. Role includes frequent interaction with customers, defining design specifications and presenting results of design efforts.
Qualified candidates will join our Morrisville, North Carolina design center adding to an industry leading, technically broad, foundry independent design team generating products for cutting edge systems and applications. Typical designs include:
Low noise amplifiers (LNA)
Power amplifiers (PA)
Mixers, switches, phase shifters, attenuators, and vector modulators for radar system applications
Technologies will include GaAs, GaN, InP, SiGe, and superconducting electronics. Design experience in SiGe technologies is a plus.
The candidate will build upon their previous RF or microwave circuit design experience to perform RF/microwave highly integrated circuit design. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience with design, packaging, test, and troubleshooting of RF/microwave circuits. Candidate should have experience working in a team environment and have the ability to lead others. Tasks will include the development of chip requirements and architecture, block level definition and requirements, detailed circuit design and schematic creation, circuit simulation, electro-magnetic simulation, layout, physical verification (Layout vs. Schematic and Design Rule Checking), post layout parasitic simulation, device test and characterization.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 14+ years of analog and mixed signal design experience, including 5+ years in a lead role. (12+ years with a technical MS or 9+ years with a technical PhD)
Experience as chip lead/architect
Experience with full product life cycle, from specification, through design/layout, chip level integration, and validation in the lab
Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso for schematic capture, circuit simulation (including Spectre RF), and full custom layout; RF circuit design experience; physical verification utilizing Cadence Assura or Mentor Calibre; behavioral modeling skills using Verilog-A or Verilog-AMS, and full-chip functional/performance verification methods.
Familiarity with microwave design tools (ADS/Momentum, AWR Microwave Office).
Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a requirement of this.
Advanced Degree either MS or PhD
Proficiency in ADS suite of tools including Momentum, HFSS, Mentor Calibre verification tools, and AWR Microwave Office.
Experience designing in SiGe technologies
Current Secret clearance
Strong design automation skills
Electronics test lab experience
Experience with low-temperature experimental measurements, microwave engineering
