Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) has an opening for a specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. You will act as the Northrop Grumman technical interface and on-site company representative to the customer in resolving issues arising from operations, maintenance, modifications and other logistics and engineering support activities involving the F-35 aircraft. You must be willing to accompany our customer on CONUS and OCONUS Deployment Assignments of varying duration.
You will serve as a Principal F-35 Supportable Low Observable (SLO) Field Support Engineer (FSE) "or" depending on experience, a Senior Principal F-35 Supportable Low Observable (SLO) Field Support Engineer (FSE) assigned to Montgomery, AL. You will be an emerging authority on F-35 low observables and structures and be able provide customers the technical expertise and solutions required to support mission requirements and operations.
NOTE: This position may be filled as a Principal (T03) or Senior Principal (T04) Engineer Field depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.**
In this role, "YOU" will be expected to:
Be a self-starter, work without direct supervision.
Integrate into a high tempo military operational environment.
Provide engineering and aircraft maintenance guidance to military and civilian maintainers and depot technicians and engineers with confidence and authority.
Document maintenance activities, collate data to identify emerging failure trends and provide recommendations to reduce aircraft down time, improve maintenance practices and advise on LO and structures system maintenance tasks.
Have knowledge and background in the field of Radio Frequency (RF) diagnostic and verification techniques for maintaining LO aircraft.
Assist in operating LO diagnostic equipment, and with Signature Engineering support, ensure F-35 aircraft LO defects/repairs and modifications do not adversely impact Radar Cross-Section (RCS).
Identify technical issues and recommend solutions to support the F-35 engineering disposition process and technical data updates.
Manage, track multiple engineering and logistic support activities, and provide periodic status to customers and program management team.
Provide authorized engineering products to supplement published engineering technical data.
Combine engineering knowledge with real world maintenance experience.
Conduct training and provide product briefings to customers, vendors, and company representatives.
Support program technical interchange meetings and program plans development relating to problem analysis, engineering dispositions and in-house technical support.
Have good interpersonal and communication skills and engage with aircraft maintainers on a regular basis to resolve maintenance issues that would otherwise lead to aircraft downtime.
Work any shift, weekends, overtime and holidays, if necessary, as well as travel on Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY's) and deployments to support F-35 program requirements.
Work towards full F-35 Nose to Tail qualification supporting both Mission and Vehicle Systems.

Will consider a B achelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft; A Master's Degree with 7 years of Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft, OR A PHD with a minimum of 4 years of Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft.
Principal FSE : Must have a HS Diploma or a GED and 9 years of Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft. Will consider a B achelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft; A Master's Degree with 3 years of Low Observables (LO) maintenance experience with military aircraft; or a PHD.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must have and be able to maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
Must have or be able to obtain Special Access Program clearance.
Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
F-35 or F-22 aircraft experience.
Field service or prior military experience.
Tier II LO diagnostic equipment experience.
Composite and structural airframe repair experience.
Working knowledge of engineering tools such as CATIA, VAS, PDM.
Salary Range: $74,600 - $138,600
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
