Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Structural Analysis or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all programs in the Aeronautics Systems Sector.
This position will be located at Edwards AFB will work a 9/80 work shift.
Duties for this position include:
Provides stress MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structure.
Maintains and improves part designs, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries.
Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
Research, develop, design, test, document, and recommend solutions to engineering mechanical/composite components and assemblies.
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Performs structural analysis to a wide variety of designs and materials including both composites and metals. Analysis includes but not limited to static, dynamic, fatigue and damage tolerance.
Review of completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
This position may be filled at either the Structural Analysis Engineer or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications for Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 2 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 0 years of experience.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance. This clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment. This clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM with 0 years of experience.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance. This clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment. This clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
Active DoD clearance
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
Experience with analysis of composite and/or metallic structure and repair methods
Experience in structural testing (building block or full-scale test)
Experience as a Lead Engineer managing a small group of analysts
Analysis experience in a MRB role
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft
Experience with durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures
Salary Range: $85,000 - $127,400
Salary Range 2: $104,600 - $157,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
