The Vehicle Engineering Organization within the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence Research, Technology and Engineering (RT&E) organization has an opening for qualified applicants in the area of Aircraft Configuration Engineering.
In this role, the candidate will be part of a dynamic team supporting configuration and integration trades studies, design maturation, the HIVE (Highly Immersive Virtual Environment), and tracking of changes to the overall air vehicle configuration. This will include preparation of preliminary layout, general arrangement, master definition geometry, and inboard profile definition for subsystems and payloads integration on to military aircraft. This will include interaction with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPT's) performing zone configuration & zone management in a fast paced concurrent engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D Model Based Engineering to include use of 3D Digital Mock-Up tool suites for communication and documentation within a collaborative IPT environment.
Successful candidates will be self-starting engineers able to perform duties without appreciable direction, or only under consulted direction toward long-range goals, capable of mentoring junior engineers, experience collaborating with multi-IPT engineers and leadership, and leading technical teams engaged in above activities.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited universitywith a minimum of2 years' experiencein aerospace design engineering or a Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) disciplinefrom an accredited university.
Experience using 3D CAD modeling.
DOD Secret Clearance with background investigation within the past 5 year. Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Special Access Programs.
Experience with aircraft configuration design, equipment and system integration onto military aircraft.
Experience using Siemens NX 10 and higher / Teamcenter PLM software.
