Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Combat Vulnerability to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The System Engineering/Specialty organization is seeking a highly motivated engineer to join our Combat Vulnerability team to learn the niche discipline of combat vulnerability analysis and live fire test. This individual will perform probabilistic survivability analysis to determine the likelihood of aircraft loss due to a hostile threat environment. Opportunities for the selected candidate include participating in actual live fire testing and briefing customers on analysis progress and findings.

Specific job responsibilities will include:

• Creating an air vehicle combat vulnerability target model using ANSYS SpaceClaim based on designer NX geometry

• Creating kill/fault trees to capture aircraft redundancy

• Creating damage mode and effects analysis (DMEA) worksheets based on component FMEAs

• Creating probability of kill (Pk) worksheets based on existing industry live fire test data

• Running combat vulnerability software (COVART) and conducting sensitivity studies to determine air vehicle Pk

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 8 years of experience in engineering; OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of experience in engineering.

• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an interim Top Secret prior to starting, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business.

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiar with NX or other CAD program

• Experience with CPLM

• Experience with ANSYS SpaceClaim

• Python coding experience

Salary Range: $118,600 - $178,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
