Northrop Grumman Satellite Communications Test Engineer / Engineer Systems 3 / 4 in Melbourne, Florida

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a focus on integration and test for a new and exciting effort located in Melbourne, FL . We're looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented individual that can expand on their current knowledge and grow in the fields of systems engineering, satellite communications, and integration and test. NGMS is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for our customers. Our Team performs a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, and deployment of complex systems worldwide.

Tasks will include leadership, coordination, and execution of program milestones including design, development, systems integration, and testing activities. Coordination and communication of issues and status with test operations, maintenance, logistics, mission assurance, and Responsible Engineers is required. This position will act as a focal point between test, systems, hardware and software engineering personnel.

The successful candidate will:

Have working knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, radio frequency (RF) data communications processes, and system integration experience.

Develop and document technical standard operating processes and procedures

Participate in team reviews of technical requirements, design and implementation plans prior to deployment

Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and operation of the system including installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration

Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal policies and practices

Create milestones, metrics and monitors adherence to software plans and schedules, identifies problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or adapting to changing contractual specifications.

Develop and execute test procedures for system builds.

FLOMSTR

This requisition may be filled at either a Level 3 or a Level 4

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

US Citizenship required with an Active US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years is required

Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Minimum of 5 years' experience with Bachelor's degree or 3 years' experience with Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM degree.

Experience working within formal engineering & development processes for the development of complex systems with a focus on integration and test.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4:

US Citizenship required with an Active US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years is required

Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Minimum of 9 years' experience with Bachelor's degree or 5 years' experience with Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM degree.

Experience working within formal engineering & development processes for the development of complex systems with a focus on integration and test.

Preferred Qualifications for Level 3 & Level 4:

Experience with standard systems engineering processes for the development of complex systems

Familiarization with DoD systems and subsystems (e.g. weapons platforms, C4ISR platforms, SATCOM, radar, radios, data links, munitions).

Familiarization with DoD SATCOM operations, concepts, and ground stations

Understanding of RF theory as it relates to both communications and radar

Ability to work in an RF lab environment as well as design planned tests for specific test cases. Skills should include ability to operate multi-meter, oscilloscope, network analyzer, power meter, and other RF lab equipment.
