The System Integration, Test & Evaluation (SIT&E) Department is seeking an Assistant Department Manager (ADM) to assist in leading teams of engineers supporting various Strike and MAS Programs. This position is based in Melbourne, Florida. The selected professionals will assist in the development and implementation of departmental vision and strategies regarding People, Process and Tools. They will drive employee engagement; improve hiring, development, training, and retention of top talent; manage engineering tools and products; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with the employee performance of developing goals, providing mid-term counseling and end of the year rating and performance reviews, Leadership development and knowledge retention.

  • Identify and implement process improvements as a member/alternate member of a Process Working Group (PWG) Board and Community of Practice.

  • Be directly involved with engagement activities to improve the workplace environment.

  • Assist the Department Manager(s) in managing the engineering teams by assisting with managing the day to day execution of department activities, including managing section managers, and acting as the Department Manager's DOA in his or her absence.

  • The manager provides qualified test personnel - system test engineers, subsystem test engineers, integrators and/or software simulation or tool developers -- to all Northrop Grumman Aerospace Sector (NGAS) programs to conduct lab, ground and flight test planning, execution, and reporting.

  • SIT&E University Relations (UR&R):

  • Responsible for all SIT&E University Relations (UR&R) college recruiting requirements to include hiring of interns and new grads for the directorate

  • Pathways: Work with Section Managers to support Sector Pathways goals; Maintain and track directorate Pathways participants and rotation plans; Coordination of SITE Pathway events

  • Assist with SIT&E cross department integration activities, leadership data calls and directorate metrics generation, collection and reporting.

  • Interface directly with other test engineers, test leadership, technical experts and management

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and database creation

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technical, Engineering or Math field (STEM) and 9+ years combined experience in any of the following: Systems Integration and Test, Software Integration and Test, Lab Test and Software Simulation and Test

  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret level security clearance

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership or first level manager role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in a Science, Technical, Engineering or Math field (STEM)

  • An Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance with full investigation within the last 6 years

  • Subject matter expert in Excel and database creation

  • Experience with SIT&E processes and procedures to support both management and engineering tasks

  • Familiarity with current programs across NGC - AS Sector

  • Excellent leadership, motivational, and communications skills

  • Desire to drive change

  • Prior functional management experience

  • Experience managing budgets
