Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Lab Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Lab Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
This role may be filled at the Base OR Principal level based on qualifications, below
The selected candidate will contribute to the research, design, analysis, manufacturing and testing associated with Lab Design associated with Lab and aircraft Equipment. This position has no opportunity for remote or hybrid work.
Key Responsibilities:
Researches, develops, designs, and tests Mechanical and mechanical components, equipment, and systems
Designs mechanical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Review, track, design and modify test station design documents as necessary.
Generate and track Bill of Materials (BOMs), schedule, and execution of test station development.
Coordinate with a multi-discipline team (supply chain, operations, QA, etc.) to ensure a quality product is built and remains on schedule and within budget.
Develop and perform Acceptance Test Procedures for test stations.
Designs will be accomplished utilizing ICD's. (Interface Control Document) Candidate must be able to develop mechanical design assemblies and sub-assemblies to be used to produce mechanical assembly BTP's (Build to Package's).
Development, integration and documentation of Laboratory systems, mechanical designs for aerospace programs
Develop and integrate mechanical designs of a functional system utilizing NX Mechanical Design Tool or other Mechanical design tool.

Basic Qualifications (Base):
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math ( STEM) discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Basic Qualifications (Principal):
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math ( STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of NX mechanical design or other parametric design tool.
Knowledge of networks and Microsoft computer skills are required.
Experience with design, mechanical drawings, models and design documentation
Understanding of test engineering concepts
MS in Mechanical/STEM Engineering
Experience with laboratory and test equipment design and development
Experience with creating and maintaining BOMs (Bill of Materials)
Experience developing and executing ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedures)
Experienced NX mechanical designer
Manufacturing/liaison support experience is also desired to support build and installation of assemblies as well as testing of aircraft systems.
Current Special Program Access
Salary Range: $73,400 - $110,000
Salary Range 2: $90,400 - $135,600
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
