Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL . This site is the center for design, development, and rapid prototyping of advanced airborne surveillance and battle management systems critical to our nation's security.

The selected candidate will become an integral member of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems' Open Architecture Team , interfacing to an industry wide Collaborative Working Group, contributing to the design and development of open mission standards. Specific responsibilities will include designing and implementing rapid prototype and proof of concept software demonstrations and supporting multiple internal research and development efforts to evaluate emerging technologies.

Position requires and active in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret level clearance and the ability to obtain program access.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and9 years of software engineering experience OR

  • Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and7 years of software engineering experience

  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design

  • Experience developing software with languages such as C/C++ and Java

  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows development

  • An active in-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret level clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related field with 3+ years' experience

  • Able to collaborate in a team environment

  • Able to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems

  • Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours

  • Experience in US Government Working Groups and/or Consortiums

  • Preference to work in software/hardware integration and rapid prototyping
