Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. This site is the center for design, development, and rapid prototyping of advanced airborne surveillance and battle management systems critical to our nation's security. The candidate will contribute to the design and development of the software systems supporting the state-of-the-art Avionic mission and vehicle testing facilities located throughout the expanding campus.
Candidate acts independently, supporting the integration lab, and has excellent interdisciplinary knowledge of systems in the lab
Technical planning, deployment, integration, test/validation, and configuration of Free and Open Software (FOSS), Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and custom software.
Analyze test line designs, interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot test stations
Continually verify all internal and external interfaces (physical, logical and functional) to ensure the individual subsystems or segments will operate together
Build high-quality, fully performing software in compliance with coding standards and technical design
Define, implement and document system test
Must be able to obtain and maintain program access
The selected candidate will work with an integration/development team and utilize best practices for integration and maintenance of complex systems. The candidate should also have experience working in an integrated lab environment and must be a quick learner, self-motivated and able to balance multiple-simultaneous tasks. They will participate in System Engineering, Software Development, System Integration and Test, Operations and Maintenance, Change Management and documentation for systems that will be used to verify and validate mission and vehicle systems prior to flight.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of software engineering experience OR
Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
Minimum 1 year of software design, integration, and/or test experience
A current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
System Test/Integration experience, to include reading electrical schematics, software programming, or troubleshooting electrical busses
Experience with software language/scripts such as C++ or Python
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing paradigm
Experience using oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, etc
Experience with simulation software design, implementation, and integration
Experience programming HW interfaces, to include 429, 1553, 1394, Ethernet, RS 485, or Analogs/Discretes
Ability to program and diagnose complex technical systems
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
