Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Crash Crew Member 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL .

In this role you will be supporting the flight line testing group in Melbourne, Florida as a member of the Airline Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) team, responding to actual, potential ground flight emergencies. You will be expected to have the ability to perform duties and tasking with limited supervision.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prevent or extinguish fires and rescue aircraft crewmembers

  • Operate and maintain ARFF Firefighting vehicles, tools and rescue equipment

  • Preposition emergency vehicles at the scene to apply extinguishing agents as necessary for fire control and/or facilitates self-evacuation of aircraft occupants

  • Accomplish Rescue Operations in the event of a mishap

  • Perform standbys for aircraft operations, including engine runs, fueling and defueling, and all other related aircraft hazardous activities.

  • Adherence to required IFSTA/ NFPA certification for ARFF vehicle operations and current ARFF standards including live Fire Training, CPR and First Aid, knowledge of firefighting principles, and procedures and techniques.

  • Understanding the proper use and capabilities of extinguishing agents, use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus; aircraft shutdown procedures, techniques both normal and forcible entry, general knowledge of aircraft construction and including fuel, oil and electrical systems.

Note: The salary range is based on a full-time schedule and will be prorated to the extent the schedule is reduced.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have at least 5 years of Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) experience

  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

  • Must be a qualified as an ARFF vehicle driver/operator

  • Must be able to pass a firefighter physical

Salary Range: $49,900 - $83,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
