Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Associate Survivability Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

The Survivability Community of Practice core competencies are as follows:

• Develops and integrates advanced technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic spectrums

• Develops and implements predictive analysis codes; builds and tests physical models; designs, develops and builds test and verification equipment; and develops, tests and integrates specialty materials

• Works closely with engineers of other disciplines to optimize the integration of this technology on existing and future aircraft.

An emerging generation of advanced design and special programs are offering dramatic challenges to low observables / signature management / survivability engineers. These are unique opportunities to join the world leader in the development of Long Range Strike capabilities, our country's next generation stealth fighter, and Reconnaissance and Surveillance aircraft. Some programs are so advanced; their impact tomorrow keeps them hidden today.

Position Descriptions

This role focuses primarily in system survivability product design, development, analysis, and concept integration; materials (including high-temperature), radar cross section (RCS), and electromagnetic design, analysis, and testing.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Be Completing or has completed a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution by June 2020

  • Applied Electromagnetics and/or Aircraft Survivability; or Comprehensive understanding of Electromagnetic Energy transmission though space and within material

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • S ecret or Top Secret clearance preferred

  • Experience in signature integration, RCS design, analysis, and testing

  • Strong knowledge of low observables and RCS performance in operational environments

  • Experienced in one or more CAD software solutions such as CATIA, Unigraphics, NX

  • Ability to use CAE and/or FEA tools (i.e. FMS, Patran, Cubit, etc.)

  • Proven experience with 3D Method of Moments (MoM) such as SENTRi and 3D Physical Optics (PO) codes such as Ansys HFSS and Xpatch

  • Programming experience in C++, MATLAB, Python, or other highly technical languages
