Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking an individual with team lead / management experience to develop and maintain a set of up to 20 language translations of MedDRA over a four year period. This position is located in Mclean Virginia.

The qualified applicant will be working with Northrop Grumman's MedDRA MSSO (Maintenance and Support Services Organization), which is on its 21st year of maintaining a medical terminology used globally by health authorities and the biopharmaceutical industry.

MedDRA (Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities) is a medical terminology used to classify adverse event information associated with the use of biopharmaceuticals and other medical products (e.g., medical devices and vaccines). The MSSO serves as the repository, maintainer, and distributor of MedDRA as well as the source for the most up-to-date information regarding MedDRA. The MSSO is seeking a team lead / manager to develop and maintain a set of up to 20 language translations of MedDRA with a small team over a four year period. This position requires attention to detail, being able to quickly understand the MSSO terminology maintenance processes, deliverable schedules and requires intermediate skills with relational databases and query development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage small team of data analysts to produce new MedDRA translations and maintain existing translations

  • Learn and understand the MSSO business process, workflow, quality and productivity goals as they pertain to terminology maintenance, especially the supported MedDRA languages

  • Cultivate and reinforces appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors.

  • Identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.

  • Represent the team, presenting team suggestions and recommendations on processes and procedures in accordance with organization cost, quality, and productivity goals.

  • Understand and work with the MedDRA file schema

  • Use the established Northrop Grumman procurement process to identify qualified translation vendors for new languages

  • Develop schedules and track costs for deploying new translations of MedDRA

  • Work with external translation vendors and quality review teams during the development of new MedDRA languages

  • Coordinate the preparation new languages and associated support documents for deployment

  • Providing instructions, guidance and procedures to direct reports via team meetings and other communication to ensure adherence to quality and established processes

  • Overseeing the maintenance of the MedDRA data sets and documents in supported languages using internal tools and COTs software per the MedDRA release schedule

  • Develop, maintain and execute queries and reports related to terminology maintenance language translation quality control processes and other processes as requested

  • Understanding report / query output and when actions need to be taken from a quality control perspective

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least 5 to 10 years as a project or team lead

  • Experience with relational databases and developing queries to produce customized reports

  • Ability to work in small teams, including external business partners

  • Knowledge of project scheduling software such as MS Project

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially MS Excel and MS Access

  • Must be a Green Card Holder or a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • PMP certification

  • Knowledge of SQL or similar query languages (e.g., as used in MS Access)
