Northrop Grumman Sr. Principal International Trade Compliance Analyst in McLean, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector I seeking a Sr. Principal International Trade Compliance Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals in either McLean, Virginia or Huntsville, Alabama .


  • Develops and manages comprehensive internal export and import controls to ensure compliance with US and foreign regulations in the conduct of international marketing, sales, supply chain and other business activities

  • Establishes business processes for submitting to and obtaining from the U.S. government all necessary export and import licenses, permits, certifications, and technology release determinations

  • Establishes and maintains relations with appropriate government regulatory agencies

  • Establishes operational processes for assuring trade compliance through gate reviews for technical data, foreign travel, foreign visits and export and import shipments

  • Maintains applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements

  • Supports law department in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints

  • Establishes and maintains training and audit assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls

  • Generates performance metrics for export and import processes


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of compliance experience

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of compliance experience

  • Minimum of 3 years drafting and submitting export licenses and agreements, interpreting and providing guidance on U.S. ITAR and EAR regulations for the licensing of commodities, technical data and defense services

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site in either McLean, Virginia or Huntsville, Alabama

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with OCR's EASE software

  • Experience with Encryption and version control

  • Able to learn and use new web-based applications including work flows and databases

  • Experience with use of / authorizing ITAR exemptions

  • Experience with making Jurisdiction and Classification determinations

  • Active Secret or higher security clearance

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Demonstrate a track record for paying close attention to detail

  • Experienced and comfortable providing training in person or via virtual methods
