Northrop Grumman Software Architect in McLean, Virginia
Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Software Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. As part of the modernization program, the software architect will set and maintain the vision for all Data Engineering aspects of the Program and ensure that this vision is adequately addressed and implemented consistently across all Project teams and Program efforts.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in the evaluation of existing data and analytics capabilities to support system migration
Support the development and software integration of an overall data architecture for use across the ConsularOne framework
Support a large scale data analytics project team in developing technical architectures, standing up and deploying a new data science platform with data loads coming in from internal and external data sources
Develop overall system software design in collaboration with operations team
Demonstrate expertise with use of data science solutions, data acquisition processes and ETL
Design and define system software and architecture for new or existing complex computer systems
Determine systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security
Coordinate software requirements for design of subsystems and integration of total system
Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies
Develop and recommend corrective actions as necessary
Architect, develop, and forecast sustainment and growth of integrated systems
Participate in customer planning sessions and project implementations
Recommends appropriate actions to improve performance, monitoring and tuning systems to achieve optimum user performance and load balancing
Assume a technical lead role for data architecture within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) based team structure and work closely with counterparts within the customer organization
Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (computer science) and at least 15 years' experience
Experience in systems implementation and Big Data Technologies
Experience implementing DevSecOps for large program using Agile, preferably SAFe, development methodology
Experience leading several development and operational Business Intelligence and Data Analytics projects that requires complex data governance and access control challenges
Hands-on experience leading the development of data architectures for large scale systems
Ability to provide expertise in design and implementation of data critical applications
Experience using open source tools for scalable processing such as Apache NiFi, languages such as R, Python, Scala, open source data management platforms such as Spark and Hadoop
Experience in cloud based environments including deploying solutions on public/hybrid clouds
Must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance. An interim clearance may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Experience using SAP HANA
Implementation and productization of predictive risk models developed using R and Python
Hands on experience in implementing predictive analytics solutions using industry known data science and machine learning platforms
Experience using engineering environments and tools that support agile development, and especially SAFe, such as JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, Confluence
