Northrop Grumman Principal Mission Assurance Engineer in McLean, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Technology Services in McLean VA is seeking a Mission Assurance (MA) Engineer to support a portfolio of programs in the Civil Solutions Business Unit in Northern Virginia.

The selected candidate will be responsible for defining and monitoring Quality and Mission Assurance program specifications and processes on a number of programs to ensure strong program performance, customer satisfaction, and mission success.

The MA Engineer will partner with the Program Managers to ensure outstanding program performance through process effectiveness, best practices, proactive risk and opportunity management, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement. The MA Engineer will be an essential member of the MA Business Unit Team, supporting the assigned programs, and will receive technical guidance, leadership, and support from the Technology Services Global Mission Excellence and Technology homeroom organization to which he/she will directly report.

The MA Engineer will be responsible for all Mission/Quality Assurance aspects of the assigned programs, including:

  • Assessing program performance, deliverables, and risks to ensure strong program performance, mission success, and adherence to contractual requirements and the division and sector Quality Management System and Command Media

  • Conducting process audits and assessments

  • Defining, coordinating, analyzing, and reporting program metrics

  • Leading Continuous Improvement activities, after-action reviews, corrective/preventive actions, root cause analysis, lessons learned, and other independent reviews.

  • Investigating problems; developing disposition recommendations as well as corrective actions for recurring discrepancies

  • Assessing monthly quality status and presenting results at management reviews

  • Coordinating and facilitating the programs' Preventive and Corrective Action process and tracking all corrective/preventive actions to closure

  • Coordinating, facilitating, and/or supporting the program Risk and Opportunity Management process

  • Supporting and providing input for program reporting and reviews (Program Management Reviews, other independent reviews, program stoplight metric reporting, etc.)

  • Reviewing program plans, procedures, processes, and deliverables

  • Ensuring that the program's Contract Requirement Traceability Matrix (CRTM) is complete, current, and compliant

  • Working with the Program Managers and Global Supply Chain to recommend/approve supplier quality requirements and assess subcontractor performance

  • Advising program leadership and staff on all Quality-related matters

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Mission Assurance Engineer or a Sr. Principal Mission Assurance Engineer level"

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Mission Assurance Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related discipline anda minimum 5 years' experience in Quality/Mission Assurance and/or related experience in systems engineering, operations, configuration management, and/or program/project management.

  • Ability to define, plan, coordinate, prioritize, and execute work independently and to coach and guide others

  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures and recommend courses of action to meet program objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to define and coordinate key metrics and subsequently present meaningful data for project review

  • Ability to generate and analyze quantitative data using statistical methods and tools

  • Ability to communicate complex information in various formatsto a variety of stakeholders

  • Familiarity with Risk and Opportunity Management principles and processes; ability to drive risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the program lifecycle

  • Ability to analyze processes and drive process improvement activities

  • Confidence to brief upper management and elevate issues to appropriate levels

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance. US citizenship required.

  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures and recommend courses of action to meet program objectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with standards such as ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, and/or CMMI

  • Audit experience

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
