We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Circuit Design Librarian Engineer 4 based out of McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area - San Jose, CA can also be an option. As a Senior Principal Circuit Design Librarian Engineer 4 at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:

This person will work as a Circuit Design Librarian Engineer within our Hardware Engineering team. This work involves designs and develops library/cell/symbols used in circuit cards for electronic devices. Primarily responsible for library creation, with secondary support of schematic capture, layout, design, fabrication documentation/files for manufacturing, and responds to supplier questions and feedback.

This position works under guidance and direction toward predetermined goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated and the individual will determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. The work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of supervisor.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain symbol and cell generation libraries

  • Create and review library components, symbols, and cells in accordance with established NGC and IPC industry guidelines meeting high levels of accuracy. Interface directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Test Engineering to obtain information about requirements.

  • Contact Component Engineering to clarify component specification discrepancies.

  • Review, update, and create complex multi-layer designs for PCB's and Flex circuits using the latest technologies (i.e. 3 and 3 spacing, BGA's, micro vias, stacked micro via, high speed, and control impedance boards). Generate support documentation to meet NGC standards.

  • Develop layer stackups working with engineering staff and external fabrication contractors.

  • Incorporate complex change notices utilizing the CAD tools. Check designs, drawings and databases for accuracy.

  • Attend/Support ERB/CCBs, Review and approve documents and provide hardware support as needed.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience; Associate's degree with 7 years' relevant experience; note, in lieu of a degree, 13 years' experience with a combination of library creation and pcb design will be considered.

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics (Xpedition or VX2.2) or similar software

  • Experience working with IPC standards for cell creation in support of PCB layout, land patterns, and acceptance criteria

  • Experience with library maintenance and development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STEM degree in engineering or engineering technology in PCB design with 4 years' experience PCB design for fabrication and PCB layer stackup for digital, RF, mixed signal, and power supply CCAs

  • Cadence working knowledge

  • Boardstation working knowledge

  • Creo working knowledge

  • V-Sure (Valor ODB++ output)

  • Working knowledge of PCB/fab DFM rules

  • Experience with Expedition

  • Experience with Hyperlinx for matched impedance

  • Working knowledge of MS office products (outlook, excel, word, powerpoint, etc.)

  • Experience with Mentor PADS (or PADS)

  • Experience with DX Designer

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI level clearance
