We are looking for you to join our team as a System Administrator II or Principal System Administrator III based out of San Diego, CA with travel to other naval bases worldwide.

What You'll get to Do: Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Systems Administrator (SA) to install Mission Package Application Software (MPAS) on Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), troubleshoot any issues, integrate the software with the ship's combat system, and remove software as necessary. The SA will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Mission Package Computing Environment (MPCE) hardware and software and support Mission Module (MM) embarkations by performing initial light off procedures on MM equipment and performing other duties as required. Roles and Responsibilities:

-- Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.

  • Deploys, maintains and monitors network gear to include switches, servers, firewalls, etc. De-bugs network-related problems.

  • Working knowledge of routing protocols, network address assignments and routing configurations. Performs a variety of technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems.

  • Document maintenance and repair procedures for developing government computing system.

  • Provide logistics guidance to support system maturation.

  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.

  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

  • Install and configure Windows/Linux servers, setting up and maintaining DNS/Exchange/Active Directory supporting and maintaining virtual environments, and troubleshooting problems with deployed systems

  • Manage daily break/fix scenarios/ updates, backups, and other problems that arise

  • Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled as either a System Administrator II or Principal System Administrator III.

Basic Qualifications for a System Administrator II:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant work experience. Note: An additional 4+ years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with DoD (department of defense) computers/systems/electronics

  • Specific experience required in one or more of the following: Linux (Red Hat), Unix, Windows, (2000, XP, server), Cisco networks

  • Experienced IT administrator with LAN/WAN technologies

  • Must possess US Citizenship and at minimum an Active Interim Secret Security Clearance

  • Meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g., Security+ certification, CISSP) OR at minimum have the ability to obtain one within 6 months

Basic Qualifications for a Principal System Administrator III:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ year of relevant work experience. Note: An additional 4+ years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) computers/systems/electronics - Specific experience required in one or more of the following: Linux (Red Hat), Unix, Windows, (2000, XP, server), Cisco networks

  • Experienced IT administrator with LAN/WAN technologies

  • Must possess US Citizenship and at minimum an Active Interim Secret Security Clearance

  • Meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g., Security+ certification, CISSP) OR at minimum have the ability to obtain one within 6 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (required for IA Cert Level I) - MCSE certification and/or other network related training - Information Assurance (IA) Certification Level I - A+ Certification - Knowledge of SunOS and Java desire - Experience in virtual imaging /system deployment / disc imaging a plus - Experience in writing procedures/technical documents - Navy Configuration management and or logistics management experience desired - Microsoft / CISCO certifications or DIACAP training a plus - Navy or Coast Guard experience a plus
