Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is actively seeking Software Systems Engineers based out of Manhattan Beach, CA. This Engineer will support a mix of traditional systems engineering while also performing as a Product Owner for an Agile Scrum team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong ability to work in a collaborative fast-moving dynamic team environment that creates and supports state-of-the-art mission planning systems.
Responsibilities Include:
Developing system and subsystem requirements from user mission needs and tracking requirements throughout the development process.
Working closely with developers to ensure software satisfies requirements.
Well versed in agile software development and performing collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional scrum teams.
Participate in risk analysis and mitigation formation.
Support program reviews and creating and/or updating requirement specifications and technical baseline documentation
Support functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications Principal Systems Engineer:
BS or higher degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), MIS, or related field
5+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of Systems Engineering OR 3 years' experience with a master's degree in a related discipline.
Experience in Systems Engineering, e.g., CONOPS development, requirements analysis, decomposition and allocation, interface definition, and trade studies.
Experience as a Systems Engineer on a software-based effort
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have an active Top-Secret Clearance, adjudicated within the last 5 years
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
BS or higher degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), MIS, or related field
8+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of Systems Engineering OR 6 years' experience with a master's degree in a related discipline.
Experience in Systems Engineering, e.g., CONOPS development, requirements analysis, decomposition and allocation, interface definition, and trade studies.
Experience as a Systems Engineer on a software-based effort
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have an active Top-Secret Clearance, adjudicated within the last 5 years
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Current SCI/SAP access
Experience in an Agile/SAFe leadership role (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, e.g.)
Experience with IA/Cybersecurity and industry platform hardening practices, such as DISA STIG Implementation
Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as, Security+)
Experience with Cloud infrastructure technology such as Azure.
Experience with containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development
Experience with UI/UX development
Experience with MBSE Tools
Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Visual Basic, .Net, Java, C, and C#
Knowledge of military mission planning systems
Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,600
Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
