Northrop Grumman Space Systems| Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) | Electronics & Payloads (E&P) directorate is seeking a Department Manager for Digital Products reporting to the Digital Products Center (DPC) Director. The Department Manager will lead a 100+ person technical organization developing processor, routing and switching, and digital communication subsystems. This is a full-time position dedicated to people, products and processes management.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide functional leadership and direction, including employee development, career planning and mentorship to department members
Define future department vision to support Sector business growth objectives and implement strategies for enabling products, tools, processes and skills
Create inclusive teams with engaged team member
Partner across Engineering organizations, Business Units, Programs and Divisions as part of a top performing functional team
Develop and execute engagement-related activities and plans
Guide in Process Working Groups, product development, proposal support, staffing and recruiting, and mentoring/people development
Manage employee performance (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
Ensure excellent program performance via process compliance and reviews, developing and improving key department processes, and collecting and reporting associated metrics
Manage day-to-day support for the operation of the functional organization and resolve critical/urgent program/technical issues
Develop and manage OPM, Capital and Indirect budgets
The role will have broad exposure to other product/process areas across Northrop Grumman Space Systems and will require a demonstrated ability to work with multiple disciplines to ensure the successful development and insertion of digital technologies in an increasingly cost-competitive environment. You will be required to interface seamlessly with Northrop Grumman senior management, energize teams; project a friendly, positive attitude that promotes employee engagement and work cooperatively in a dynamic environment where change is the norm. The chosen candidate should demonstrate the ability to grasp complex issues, independently formulate analysis and proposed solutions, lead people, manage complex activities, manage risks and opportunities, present / brief issues to leadership, and positively represent the company to the customer. Must have the ability to create a collaborative, engaging work environment, manage and balance competing interests/priorities, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or other Engineering field from an accredited institution
7 years of digital unit, digital slice, digital board, and/or digital ASIC/FPGA design and development experience
Integrated Product Team lead experience in either design or sustaining phases
Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage engineers and technicians in a process driven environment.
Active SCI Clearance required to start
14 years of experience developing Digital Electronics for military or spacecraft applications
Master or PhD Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Familiarity with NGSS technical & administrative processes and procedures is highly desired
Past experience managing small projects and generating proposals
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Recognition within the broader organization as a Subject Matter Expert, Responsible Design Engineer, or Integrated Product Team lead for Digital Electronics for Space Systems
Experience as a functional manager
Strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities
