Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking the next Mechanical Technician 2/3 to join the Electronics and Payloads, Electronic Assembly and Test team. In this role, ensure a consistent, high quality product worthy of space flight product production. This position will be based in Manhattan Beach, CA.
The ideal candidate will performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or assemblies to meet desired specifications. Proficient in interpreting schematics and meeting critical dimensions outlined in specifications. Mechanical technician level 2/3s will be required to comprehend and achieve requirements consistently and with minimal defects and maximum efficiency.
The selected candidate must thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations. This person must exhibit high levels of communication, teamwork and manual dexterity. This person will act as a resourceful point of contact for the engineering, planning and management teams. Candidate must have experience working on diverse assignments in a collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, hardware designers, and test engineers.
Level 2 Technician: High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years additional education and/or related Mechanical Technician experience
Level 3 Technician: High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years additional education and/or related Mechanical Technician experience
Capable of performing advanced J standard soldering operations
The ability to obtain and maintain an SCI Clearance
Experienced in interpreting schematics and/or blueprints
Understand health and safety and chemical handling requirements
Knowledge of chemical handling and disposal practices
Ensure a consistent, high quality product worthy of space flight product production
-Must be available and willing to work overtime as needed
Experience with training and or mentoring to J standard requirements preferred
Active SCI Clearance
Experience soldering fine pitched leaded devices, wiring, and unit assembly preferred
