Northrop Grumman Space Systems- Propulsion Division is currently looking for a Principal / Senior Principal Maintenance Reliability Engineer to join our Facilities and Maintenance group supporting our manufacturing operations at our Bacchus facility located in Magna, Utah .

This position will occasionally support the Clearfield , and Promontory locations. Candidate must be willing to travel to all 3 campuses and be on site.

Description & Responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Specialize in various types of automated mechanical/electrical components and manufacturing equipment/facilities.

  • Develop and implement machine monitoring strategies to support the reliability centered maintenance program to predict machine failures before they happen using vibration, temperature, and other variable analysis.

  • Review existing manufacturing equipment and becomes completely familiar with the OEM's manufacturing build protocol as it relates to machine function.

  • Provides emphasis to ensure that the correct preventative maintenance procedures are in place as it relates to the mechanical and electrical systems and recommend all critical spare parts to keep the plant operational on a 24/7 basis.

  • Ensure that all manufacturing equipment performs at their ultimate performance level and maintain a high level of machine uptime.

  • Considerable latitude for independent action and decision making.

  • Support our current facility and allow it to grow to the next level of operations and production.

  • Prepare presentations and reports detailing the Operational Equipment Effectiveness on assets you support.

  • Aid in developing standard specifications for future equipment purchases.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, or manufacturing facilities support/maintenance.

  • Basic understanding of various types of manufacturing equipment

  • Understanding of CAPEX engineering projects or equipment installation

  • Experience interacting with craftsmen, maintenance planners, and management.

  • Understanding of reliability concepts (i.e., MTTR, MTBF, probability of failure, condition monitoring, etc.)

  • Experience with CMMS/EAM and equipment failure data analysis

  • Ability to negotiate and consult with vendors as required to maintain and repair mechanical equipment.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, PowerBI.


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering discipline

  • Minimum 5+ years of related work experience, or 3 years with Master's degree.

  • Position may be filled at a higher level requiring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering discipline

  • Minimum 9+ years of related work experience, or 7 years with Master's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Reliability Engineer in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with PTC ThingWorx or other Industrial IoT technology

  • Experience with predictive analytics / machine learning

  • Experience with PLCs and generating tags

  • Experience with additive manufacturing

  • Experience with CAD software

  • Experience with high and low voltage electrical systems

  • Experience leading high functioning cross functional teams

  • Experience implementing CMMS/EAM in an organization

  • Experience with CNC equipment and control system including Allen Bradly, FANUC, and Siemens

  • Experience in installing, commissioning, supporting or maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment

Salary Range: $90,400 - $135,600

Salary Range 2: $112,000 - $168,000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
